Miravalles Volcano Tour

Volcano Miravalles is a dormant stratovolcano on the edge of a very large caldera, 2,028 m high with six eruption points at its peak. The only reported eruption was a small steam explosion in 1946, although high heat flow remains. Although dormant, Miravalles provides an exceptional opportunity to sample hot spring waters, bubbling mud pots, water pools and fumaroles. Some of the oldest Pre-Hispanic archeological remains in the country have been found in this area.

The Las Hornillas tour starts at the amazing live crater where you can bathe in therapeutic volcanic mud and witness volcanic activity close-up. This is followed by a horse back ride through the beautiful Guanacaste countryside, leading to a forest in a private reserve. Here can swim and relax in the crystal clear water of the breathtaking waterfalls and also take an extreme adventure in a canopy.
